Habitat: Arctic Size: 1.2-1.6m long; 49-91kg Adaptation: digs & maintains breathing holes in the ice using its (front flipper) claws Diet: krill, squid, octopus, cod. mussels & crustaceans Predator(s): polar bear, orca whale, Greenland shark, wolverine, wolf & artic fox
BEARDED SEAL
Habitat: Arctic Size: 2.1-2.4m long; 200-360kg Adaptation: pups can swim shortly after birth Diet: crab, shrimp, clams, snails, cod & bottom fish (e.g., flatfish) Predator(s): polar bear, orca & man hunting them for food (meat and seal oil), skins for their umiaks (skin boats) & clothing
HARP SEAL (PUP)
  aka Whitecoat

Habitat: Arctic Size: 1.6-1.9m long; 180kg Adaptation: a mother can distinguish her pup from hundreds of others by scent alone Diet: capelin, cod, herring, crustaceans, krill & prawns Predator(s): polar bear, orca, shark & man hunting for their fluffy fur

Habitat: Arctic Size: 2.5-3m long; 300-400kg Adaptation: adult males have an inflatable nasal sac to attract female seals & to scare away enemies Diet: krill, squid, octopus, cod, mussels & crustaceans Predator(s): polar bear, orca, shark, wolverine, wolf & artic fox

Habitat: Arctic Size: 1.5m long; 65-115kg Adaptation: form "family" groups consisting of a female, a male & a pup during breeding season Diet: herring, cod & capelin Predator(s): shark, orca, walrus, sea lion, polar bear, brown bear, wolf, arctic fox, eagle & man
RIBBON SEAL
Habitat: Arctic Size: 1.6-1.9m long; 70-80kg Adaptation: spends most time on floating on pack ice (i.e., frozen sea walter) & in open seas, away from land Diet: shrimps, crabs, squid & fish Predator(s): polar bear, orca, eagle & man
