Irene has a Certificate in Early Childhood from the Institute of Education and has many years of experience in ministering to children. In 1993, she joined the staff of Child Evangelism Fellowhship (CEF) Singapore. She had been responsible for CEF Singapore Chinese ministry for the past 10 years till 2005. Presently, she is involved in teachers' training and children ministry with Christians Communications Ltd (CCL).

She is a Sunday School teacher at All Saints Church. She is married to Chris and they have two sons, Issac (8 years) and Isaiah (5 years).
